Update: Senate Votes to Rollback Hotspots in E-Rate
May 09, 2025
On Thursday, the Senate voted 50-38 on S.J.Res.7, a Continuing Resolution Act (CRA) that would roll back a recent update to the E-Rate program that allows E-Rate dollars to be used to provide hot spots to students and library patrons. (How does a bill pass with only 50 votes? This represented a majority of those present and voting. Republican leadership closed the vote early because they did not want to get backed up on to other votes.)
Âܲ·AVÊÓƵhad sent a letter of opposition to the measure, which now moves to the House. We do not yet have a date for the House vote, but Âܲ·AVÊÓƵadvocacy will keep members and the blog updated.
