STATE OF THE SUPERINTENDENCY
A greater proportion of urban and suburban districts have dealt recently with diversity, equity and inclusion issues compared to small town and rural school districts, according to AASA’s mid-decade survey of superintendents.
Critical race theory and book bans also arose more frequently in the suburbs than in other district types, according to the survey of nearly 1,100 superintendents nationwide.
In more than two-thirds of cases, the superintendents reported the conversations relating to DEI led to positive change.
