Sex Offenders on School Grounds
December 01, 2025
LEGAL BRIEF
A superintendent of a small school district received a call from her elementary school principal. A newly employed classroom aide, who was also the parent of a 3rd grader, had asked the principal if her husband could attend the first parent-teacher conference later in the week.
Puzzled, the superintendent asked why such permission would be necessary. The principal explained the father recently had been released from incarceration at a state correctional facility and is a registered sex offender.
