Effective and successful negotiations between teacher unions and school boards require several key elements. These include clear communication, mutual respect, good-faith bargaining and a focus on addressing the needs of both the school district and the teachers.

Drawing on my experience as superintendent in a small, rural regional school district during negotiations in the 2024-25 academic year, I offer a more detailed analysis of the key components.
