No Longer Chasing Others’ Definitions of Success
May 01, 2026
My View
For a long time, I considered whether to pursue a doctorate in organizational leadership while questioning whether it still aligned with who I am and how I want to live and lead.
I’ve been standing for several years at a familiar crossroads, asking myself whether I would go finish what I started. I examined the pull of a lifelong goal, the quiet expectations that follow leaders in education and the belief that maybe this time I would finally see it through. I now have clarity that comes only after sitting with an unanswered question long enough to hear the truth beneath it.
I have decided not to pursue my doctorate.
