As expectations for responsiveness and customer service rise across school systems, many districts still rely on fragmented workflows, such as e-mails, phone calls and informal processes, that limit efficiency and visibility. This leads to inconsistent response times, duplicated effort and frustration for staff and families.

In Calvert County Public Schools in Maryland, these challenges were most evident outside of information technology, where requests were still managed through decentralized processes while IT already had implemented a centralized service model with defined workflows and performance tracking. Over the past few years, we have expanded that model across departments, improving responsiveness, stakeholder satisfaction, operational alignment and accountability across the organization.
