Superintendent, High School District 214 (Ill.)

Dr. Scott Rowe is an accomplished educator and administrator and serves as Superintendent of High School District 214. He has devoted his career to educational leadership and innovation. 

High School District 214, located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, Illinois, is renowned for its commitment to excellence in education. The district offers a wide array of programs and services designed to meet the diverse needs of its students. It is one of Illinois's largest high school districts, emphasizing personalized learning experiences, career readiness, and preparing students for life beyond high school.

During the 3 years that Dr. Rowe has served in District 214 he has led the district through the strategic planning process, including the development of a portrait of a graduate and portrait of an educator, and has focused the district's efforts in operational efficiency and systems evaluation. Before his current role in District 214, Dr. Rowe made significant contributions as the Superintendent of Huntley Community School District 158, where he served more than 9,000 PreK-12 students across Algonquin, Lake in the Hills, and Huntley for five years. His leadership was instrumental in establishing the district as a national model for educational transformation, aligning perfectly with the innovative spirit of District 214.

Under his guidance, Huntley District 158 garnered national acclaim for its forward-thinking initiatives. As principal of Huntley High School, Dr. Rowe spearheaded the expansion of the school's blended learning program, which evolved from a modest pilot project to a cornerstone of the school's educational approach. His efforts culminated in Huntley High School being recognized as the nation's leading high school for blended learning by study.com in 2019.

Dr. Rowe's leadership also saw the successful implementation of one of Illinois's largest 1:1 learning initiatives. Furthermore, he was pivotal in the creation of specialized academies at Huntley, including the Medical, Engineering, Fine Arts, and Global Academies. These programs offer students tailored coursework and community-based learning opportunities, aligning their education with future career interests.

His journey in educational leadership began with roles as a middle school and high school principal within District 158, following his time as a social studies teacher and assistant principal in various districts. Dr. Rowe's educational background includes a bachelor's degree from Missouri State University and master's and doctoral degrees in educational leadership from Aurora University. Alongside his professional achievements, he shares his life with his wife, Melissa, and their two children, underscoring the importance of family amidst his educational pursuits.
