Deron Stender
Now in his seventh year with Creston Community Schools, Superintendent Deron Stender brings more than 33 years of experience in public education, including 22 years as a superintendent. A recognized leader at both the state and national levels, he has been honored as Iowa's Communicator of the Year and actively serves on AASA’s Executive Committee, where he works to advance policies that strengthen public education.
Superintendent Stender is also deeply committed to developing the next generation of school leaders, drawing on his own experience and passion for mentorship to support colleagues across the profession. His leadership philosophy centers on the belief that strong schools are built through strong school-community partnerships. He encourages all students, staff, and families to model the Panther Code: Respect Yourself, Respect Others, and Respect Our Schools
